Another excellent and thought provoking article. I grew up in a white suburb in California and Anne Frank was a name I knew as early as 7 years old. My parents thankfully had an amazing grasp of African history and I while I learned about Ms. Harriet Jacobs at home, I didn't learn about her in depth until I took an African American studies class in college.

While you entire article is amazing, as a Black woman my heart was drawn to the fact that so many children in America and around the world have no idea who Harriet Jacbos is.

As an activist, this for me is the tragedy. Our stolen and tucked away history is the reason for the demise of so much for my people - there simply isn't enough room here to speak on it, but I thank you for bringing this to light and hopefully educating a few people about who Ms. Jacobs was along the way.
