First of all, why are you so angry?

Second, angry White men attempt to “educate” me on being a Black woman in America every single day. Go figure. So if you did, it would hardly shock, surprise, or hold my attention for longer than a second. By all means, knock yourself out. It’s your time since for you, it’s a free country.

The last time that I checked, White Americans were not enslaved in THIS country by Black Americans. Are you trying to say that as a Black woman I am oppressing you? Are White people unable to secure jobs with living wages as an entire race? Are White people redlined from living in communities they desire to occupy as an entire race? Are White people regulated to meeting quotas when it comes to hiring and college entrance practices as an entire race? Are you not the majority population in this country with White males dominating every aspect of society?

I specifically say “as an entire race” because that is what systematic racism and oppression refers to. Not “one-offs” where one or a few White people feel as if they are being denied, neglected, or got their feelings hurt. No matter how much I or any other Black person harassed a White person (which I don’t) that would have no bearing on how White people fair in this country AS A WHOLE.

But a White person harassing me also has the power to affect every component of my life. White people employ me. White people own the bank where I have a mortgage, therefore affecting my homeownership. White people are in positions of power in every institution that most of us have to deal with daily.

Yes, as someone who grew up in America where Whiteness is thrust down our throats in every form of nonfiction and fiction media, in our educational systems, in the work place, and even in personal activities, it’s much easier for me to speak on the White experience than vice versa. Why? Your image, thoughts and opinions are everywhere and can easily be found. How easy it is for you to access accurate, FACTUAL information about the Black experience? America makes sure when you see us, it’s in the context of his being criminals, threats to the White community, and as unworthy sub-humans. White people control the narrative of what constitutes being an American and what doesn’t.

Ever notice when some says “American” the immediate thought is they are speaking of a White person and the rest of us have to be identified by ethnicity? Think about it. There’s a reason for that and White people are directly responsible for it. It’s one of the many things your forefathers (who all but a few were slave owners) put into motion and future generations, including you, continue to perpetuate.

How do I know you do this without knowing you? Because your tone matches the gazillion other comments I’ve received from angry White men who frankly don’t have a damn thing to be angry about. You’re at the TOP of the food chain. How you have time to come into the comment section of a Black woman who is no threat to you at all is quite curious. I guess that supremacy mindset makes you feel entitled to do so. Well Medium is a public forum, but your anger is misplaced and frankly quite comical.
