First, police killings of unarmed Black men and boys is a constant activity. This never ends. Just because it doesn't make headlines doesn't mean it's not happening. You won't find these things in any of these fictitious "statistics" that people like to talk about. There's a tiny thing called police falsifying reports that keeps these numbers down and out of the headlines.
Also, I actually wrote an article called whataboutisms and it's not resorting to anything when Black people say this. It's because we are all truly tired of our lives being brushed aside by someone who wants to force-feed false statistics. People really need to become more aware. Anyone can create a database. This country that was built on lies and white supremacy is not going to magically begin reporting correct numbers and valuing Black lives. A Black man who was born and raised here and who grew up in an actual Black community (not an integrated one) would have a much different response than yours. He (and all of us) is actually living this, not just reading about it. And that changes everything.
EVERYTHING in the US is about race. Do you want to know why? Because White people MADE it that way. White supremacy benefits white people, believe it or not, which is why there is no rush here to end racism and why there is always so much push back from White people when the topic is discussed. Why disrupt their lives with the truth, right? I'm fatigued with White people saying "it's not all about race" like Black people made it that way. We bear the brunt of the hatred simply because White people DID make it all about race. If anyone has a problem with discussions on race and feels they are oversaturated, it's White people who should get together to change this narrative that was created to benefit them.
