Great article. I suspect if you read my articles, I might be one of the people that you would feel is spreading hatred, but those of us who are activists see it differently.

This particular highlight is exactly the way I feel about being Black. Often our only representation with White people is what they see on the news and what conservative Republicans on television have chosen to share - a great deal of which do not have high opinions of Black people. But given the fact that a lot of White people - on either side of the political spectrum- have very limited day to day interactions with large groups of Black people (outside of those who say they have a few Black friends) it's difficult for anyone to speak on our experience either. This is why we have to do it for ourselves.

I can't speak for everyone you see on Medium, but my articles are written to enlighten and to provide solutions. There is a strong push to silence our voices and I'm afraid the messages and articles are all being lumped into a "hate" category which will serve to minimize our fight for equality.

Hopefully a happy medium (no pun intended!) will prevail when both sides can speak their minds and each reader can view all material with an open mind, a level of empathy, and a true desire to understand where each person is coming from. Thanks for this article!
