Great that you are watching this and getting something out of it. I don't think the intent was to suggest that government relinquish its rights to act punitively towards those who broke the law, but instead to show the systemic nature of the way our criminal justice system since its inception and how it directly affects the Black community today. It is not a topic most Whites don't want to discuss as its easier to subscribe to the trop that most Black people are inherently predisposed to engage in criminal activity and that is the reason we populate prisons at higher rates than any other ethnicity.
