Hi Amy, and I thank you for reading and for taking the time to write such a powerful comment. I agree with you 100% and am actively working in my area to advocate for a more broad and realistic representation of American history that includes the complete story of African Americans in this country from our ancestor's horrific journey through the middle passage, both reconstruction periods, and our "post- slavery" existence in this country. You are completely correct that this has never been addressed head-on and we will never get to a place of change unless the full truth is not only told but TAUGHT in schools unapologetically.

I grew up with empathy for the Jewish community due to our extensive education on the Holocaust and I agree we need to take an immediate page from the Jews and insist that this nation's true history (not indoctrination) become a permanent staple in every curriculum across the country.
