Hi Cheryl. Nothing but God that I happened to scroll through these comments and you responded. First, let me say a huge THANK YOU because I’d hoped for the chance to thank anyone involved with this extraordinary documentary. I bought it as soon as it was available for purchase and I watch it each year to this day with friends and family.

Thank you for bringing our stories and struggles to the mainstream. I’ve written about colorism for decades and I find it’s a topic harder to discuss than racism.

Black men, and unfortunately some Black women, are so reluctant to give credence to this very real, very toxic, and very degrading condition that often times those of us who experience it are left with a bit of PTSD when we try to explain our journeys.

This documentary said everything I’ve ever felt and relayed it in a way that as you said is still poignant 11 years later. I am so grateful to tell you THANK YOU.
