Hi Del. Thanks for reading. I most certainly believe Lincoln did what he could and it was definitely more than others, however putting political gains ahead of human life is not anything I can grant concessions for. It’s almost as if that would be an acceptable reason to deny human rights if it meant furthering a political career. It also lessens the effects of my ancestors by only looking to the good and not keeping the focus on the ENTIRE story. He was just a man and men are imperfect and that’s okay. Truth is truth and in my opinion shouldn’t be compromised. I don’t believe anyone is forced to do anything if they have power - they make conscious choices that support THEIR greater good, which is something my ancestors didn’t have the ability to do.
