Hi Kelli. Thank you so much for reading and for sharing your story. You are a remarkable human being to exist with your own disabilities and to still be able to operate with empathy. I can only imagine what you must deal with in terms of ableism and I pray that you have family and friends around you to for support.
There are many circumstances that need addressing in addition to racism (poverty, sexism, ableism to name a few) and I hope at some point those of us with a desire to create a better world will come together to and create workable plans for them all. I know this is an extremely idealist view but I believe as long as each of us is doing what we can from where we are in our communities, this will spread across the country creating a greater good. Conversations are the beginning to change and I appreciate you taking the time to engage and share your experience.
I highlighted this particular quote because it was so powerful to me and so eloquently stated what we as Black people have tried to express. It isn't that we profess to be the only people in this country who suffer from discrimination and ill-treatment, it's that coupled with the color of our skin it makes things more difficult on every level. Thank you for speaking on that as it's a very important part of why we continue this journey to make things better for future generations.
