Hi Lisa, and thanks so much for reading. Yes, there is a huge difference in being called a name and actually fearing for your life and the lives of your children. The problem with playing the victim is it blocks out the perspectives of others and makes it hard to see anyone else's suffering but your own. We have quite a way to go build true empathy in this country, but I have to believe with effort we will get closer. Not in my lifetime, but hopefully in my children's or grandchildren's.
