I cannot thank you enough for writing this well-written and empathetic article. My children's names are Rashaad and Maariyah and unfortunately they have gone the majority of their lives (both are adults now) with people misspelling or mispronouncing their names. They are both phonetically spelled, however my son is often called "Rashard" and my daughter is called "Maria" They have become resilient with the insensitivity of it, but as a mother it has never set well with my spirit. A little humanity goes a LONG way. Thank you so much for this article.
