I meant to mute you, not block you, because our conversations are unproductive. I am in the fight for the lives of my people and casual banter without purpose has no place in this journey. But, here you are, so I’ll respond.

I’m not sure where people ever see the word “ALL” in any of my essays, but I can assure you I have never said “ALL” or made any absolute statements in any of my writing. I will quote myself:

“Understand that the majority of White people (even the good ones) either consciously or subconsciously have racist tendencies.”

The majority is not “all” because the minority remains, and having racist tendencies is not racist. This simply means that if you grow up in a society that upholds your ethnicity as superior to others, naturally this would extend to members of the supposed superior race to subconsciously develop racist tendencies. This is human psychology, not just my opinion.

I’m intelligent enough to understand that the world does not operate in absolutes and I’m also, unfortunately, a victim of the ignorant people in America who have referred to Black people in absolute terms for centuries.

I take high offense that you would assume you have the ability to deduce my critical thinking process or to know how I feel about “all” White people. If you’ve taken the time to read and digest my articles instead of looking for ways to be offended, you would know I grew up in a predominantly White community and have many close, family-like White men and women as life-long friends. Not internet friends, but friends who know my children, have visited my home, and that I’ve traveled with.

So no, I do not believe “all” White people are racist. But most certainly quite a few are and my White friends have attested to this, even about some of their own family members. These are the people showing up in my comments calling me “Black nigger bitch” or telling me I need to be strung from a tree or that I need to go back to Africa. THOSE are the kinds of people I’m referring to and if you aren’t that type of person, my words shouldn’t affect you.

White people who are racist can only overcome their racism and hatred by doing three things:

  1. Actually acknowledging that racism EXISTS and that they practice it.
  2. Developing EMPATHY for all human beings
  3. Reversing the dehumanization process that they have been conditioned to participate in that was established in the US at its inception.

Those are tall orders for people who have grown up consciously (or subconsciously) believing Black and Brown people are inferior. My goal is not to try and reform a racist. That’s a no-win situation and a waste of precious time. My goal is to reach those who do have a firm grasp of reality, are genuinely concerned about humanity, and want to help create a better world. PERIOD.

If that’s you, we can chat anytime you like. But if you come at me with generalizations and assumptions that you know my journey better than I do, I can guarantee the conversation will be a short one.
