I often have to seem interested in White centered activities or entertainment in my office because they perceive disengagement as insubordination. And this is of course only applied to the Black women who don’t engage with the White women. It’s perfectly fine for the White women not to engage. I saw this when we had our «race talks» and the White women were told they did have to speak out if they were too uncomfortable. Imagine that.
