If you vow to lead with empathy, you will begin to understand. Reading without prejudging and resisting the need to downplay what a Black person is saying just because it’s not your experience or you’ve never witnessed it happening to someone else is key. The fact that you felt strong enough about it to dig in and expose yourself to things you weren’t familiar with is a great start. Be kind to yourself during this journey and share that kindness with Black writers and people in general who express themselves and you’ll be on your way to true allyship. Thanks for sharing.
