I'm a Black woman and I'm not a huge fan of these articles either. But not everyone began their journeys at the same time. Writers are constantly evolving and while they may start with the "10 things" type of articles, if you follow any good writer's journey, you will see the evolution process in some that results in quality and insightful articles.

Of course there will always be those who will criticize ANYTHING written about race, no matter how nicely and non-threatening it's written. Those are not the kind of people any of us care to reach. They have a specific agenda and are only interested in creating click-bate and earning money on the backs of Black trauma. Black activists can spot these types 100 miles away and do not engage with them. We have bigger fish to fry and lives to save.

Personally, dealing with people in person has been much more rewarding and constructive than talking to people on Medium and other sites. The whole anonymity and hiding behind a keyboard brings out the underbelly of society and stalls this conversation, in my opinion.
