I've been on Medium since last June and the most I've ever made in one month was about $600, and that was because I received the $500 bonus. My average monthly earnings are about $100 - $200 dollars at best. When I hear of people making thousands of dollars on this site, I wonder, how are they doing this?? I've read many articles that seem to explain and I'm already following what they say, but the money just doesn't come in. These days, I'm lucky to break at $100 per month and right now I currently have about $50 after writing one or two articles per week.

I'm not certain if it's the topic I write about (racism) that turns off Medium, and if I'm just on the wrong platform. But I don't want to adjust what I'm passionate about just to meet a standard. I thought this was a place where all good writing was given the same chance. I also met all the criteria to join the creator program and wasn't chosen.

Thanks for this article. It explains a lot of what I was wondering about.
