I’ve not yet encountered a group who facilitates DEI programs that didn’t have a clear cut plan for implementation. The problem has been from Whites in positions of power who oppose it and thwart the efforts.
If we lived in an equitable society DEI wouldn’t be necessary but unfortunately, here we are. The reasons I hear for pushback in every meeting I’ve attended in many different organizations all point to the same thing: White people feel the programs will give an unwarranted leg up to Black people and will somehow take money out of their pockets, food off their tables, and jobs from their children.
As long as nothing interrupts the status quo of Whites being at the top of the food chain and Black people are expected to eat from the scraps they cast aside, all is well.
But the moment we speak up and assert our right to share the same benefits as they do, as we are ALL Americans, we are bombarded with philosophical discussions that do nothing but deflect from the topic at hand.
And that is the real problem.
