My sisters and I feel the same way. Finally we were able to see ourselves in a history that looked and related directly to our ancestors experience. My sister wrote a book detailing slave narratives (entitled Voices Unheard) and it was one of the most emotional books I’ve ever read. Knowing that these stories came from real people who once existed and endured these atrocities is mind blowing. I wish THAT book was part of every school curriculum.
