One of the first articles I wrote for Medium was about the Daughters of the Confederacy. It wasn't a popular read because this was because the "racial reckoning" but I definitely feel the same way that you do about this travesty.

Our parents are similar souls as my siblings and I were also taught our history, and I did the same with my own children because unfortunately we knew they would not get a proper education in the school system.

White conservatives and supremacists sell the lie of "little white kids will be taught they are oppressors" but the reality is, they will be taught the TRUTH. So many White adults claim they don't understand privilege but if it was taught in schools, there would be no excuse to claim ignorance. They are busy passing laws behind the scenes all over the country so it would be in our best interest as a people to do what we can to ensure future generations are not completed white-washed from curriculums all together.
