Thank you for your response. I implore you to read the title of this article “thoughts from the heart of ‘A’ Black woman.” These are my own experiences and opinions (and those of relatives and close friends). I had no intention of assuming that this article applies to every Black women. It was not written with the intent of rivaling a New York Times piece, so you saying you “dismissed it as a serious article” is curious, since it is simply my opinion. It may not ring true to you, but again these are my thoughts and like you and everyone else, I’m entitled to express them. I also understand that you are entitled to disagree and I respect that as well.

I also like to distinguish Black women and not say “women of color” because that in and of itself lumps all women from different ethnicities into a bucket which I, like you, do not agree with. If you took this as including all Black women that was not my intent, nor will it ever be for follow up articles. I am an activist committed to breaking down barriers and reversing the dehumanization process of Black people. I would never intentionally do something to my beautiful people that has been perpetuated against us for over 400 years.

I am writing from my own experience of being on this earth, living in this country, and being in this brown skin for the past 50 years. Period. It’s amazing how this article is touching people on both sides of the spectrum. It was written from the place of the first two sentences of your post and meant to do nothing more than that. Thank you so much for reading.
