Thank you for your response. We can agree to disagree on that one. Black people are not a monolith. We are individuals who have been fighting to be seen as such since we arrived on these shores. Statements such as this only serve to further perpetuate this injustice. There are no "common situations" that happen to all people. Black people most certainly experience oppression in ways that White people will never have to endure simply because of the color of their skin. This isn't to say that White people do not have struggles, but as a Black woman I can say with complete confidence that the majority of them do not include fear for their children simply because of the skin color they were born in. Thanks for your time in reading and responding. I appreciate it and the ability to have a civil discussion. We have to start somewhere.
