Thanks for your comment. I think it's going more broad than what the writer is speaking of. We are only speaking of our experience as Black people with white Americans, or any other person who has migrated here and has joined white Americans who subscribe to uphold white supremacy. I have traveled extensively to other parts of the world, but at no time in any of my articles do I address the state of affairs of anyone outside of the US. I've lived here for the past 51 years and have certainly seen enough and been Black long enough to form an opinion on how I, my family, and friends of African descent have been treated in America.

I can imagine how it must have felt with your background coming here and being called "privileged" but I believe that is because on sight you probably appear to be white American and people have made assumptions, which isn't right because no form of bias is good, but people would not know your origin unless you told them. However, since you DO present with the appearance of being an American white male, there are certainly privileges afforded to you that say, a Black person from Poland would receive, simply based on the color of your skin. America is a twisted, complicated country that is deeply entrenched in racist, subconscious bias, and white privilege. It takes heartfelt conversations for people to come together and dismantle this current system, but unfortunately it's a conversation most white people are not ready or willing to have.
