That's actually not correct. I am a Black woman and have been Black my entire life and I can say with complete confidence that nothing about advising Black people to educate themselves and to stay abreast of the injustice in this country equates to victimhood. Your so-called definition of woke is part of the problem.

I am beyond exhausted at this baseless talking point of White people saying Black people see themselves as victims. Let's unpack that for a moment.

We are direct descendants of people who were brought here in chains. Our fate was to be enslaved to this day because the plan was never to allow Africans to achieve freedom and equality. The plan was eternal generational enslavement. Period.

So people who fought for their freedom, in spite of the danger of doing so, fought the viciousness of the KKK, Jim Crow, segregation, lynching, Black codes, redlining, discrimination, and continued systemic racism are incapable of producing victims. Not one Black person has ever stood before anyone crying and claiming victimhood.

This is a popular racist talking point to discredit the rape, brutality, discrimination and racism my ancestors faced on THIS soil, and the systemic racism that continues to permeate this society.

You cannot say "let's stop telling Black people they are victims" and then mention empathy in the next breath. Your words cancel each other out. A statement like that KNOWING the history of this country and the atrocities that continue speak to the fact that you lack basic empathy for Black people.

And who is promoting violence? Where did you get that from?

And by the way, not all people choose or even want to get married. It's called freedom of choice. Yes, families come in many different forms. Not all people have conservative values and that doesn't make their choices wrong - it makes them their OWN.

Black people have fathers. I was raised by one of the best. Your attempt at veiled racism with your suggestion that Black men are not present in the lives of their children was not lost on this intelligent Black woman. You can take your racist tropes elsewhere.
