This is an EXCELLENT metaphor to summarize the way the federal government operates in the school system and in many other areas that directly affect the Black community. I was involved in the integration process in elementary school and while I was fortunate to be bused to a very diverse school in San Francisco, but many of my dear friends unfortunately did not have very positive experiences. We were all stuck between a rock and a hard place by sending our children to schools that did not offer a proper representation of our cultural and education needs, or attending schools in our communities that were not afforded the proper resources and opportunities we deserved.

As ALWAYS, your extraordinary writing and extensive research has created one of the most educational articles on school segregation. I am so grateful for your dedication to not only put the TRUTH out into the universe, but your care to do the painstaking research that stops the naysayers at the door. THANK YOU!!!
