This is really unfortunate. It doesn't serve to alienate those who want to have thoughtful and respectful discussions. I suppose it doesn't help that the majority of White men do engage for the wrong reasons, which makes it harder for those who do have valuable and useful contributions. But this is also universal because there are fools on every side of the coin, unfortunately. That's why I say this is not for everyone. Activism is definitely not for everyone. I run the risk of losing my job every time I speak out and tell the truth, but my objective goes much further than just a job. I am working to solidify better conditions for my children, future grandchildren, and generations I'll never meet. The passion to challenge the status quo is not inherently bred in every human being and that's okay. My dad used to say "it takes all kinds to make a world" and the key is everyone finding their place and doing the best they can with what they find.
