This is very honorable and I would be wonderful if more people got involved to foster greater humanity. But as a Black person, it's virtually impossible for me to accept things as they are, particularly since it's lead to the deaths, rapes, humiliation, and dehumanization of my people. And that's just scratching the surface.
There are too many people who came before me and lived and died for my freedom to simply be able to sit here and type and to pursue and catch my dream of becoming an author. It would be the highest form of disrespect for me to give up and believe that change is impossible. I'm certainly not naive enough to believe that it will be an instantaneous, wide-spread change, particularly since there are no benefits to gain from white supremacists if it occurred, but having the mindset that nothing can be done simply isn't an option for me as a Black woman. If the people who came before me had that mindset, I wouldn't be typing this response to you right now : )
