Those friends and relatives cannot possibly account for all Black people in America. We are not a monolithic group. Each of us has our own experiences and I can tell you oppression is alive and well in Atlanta, GA. and the South in general.

Just as there are some White people who are blatantly racist I could not make the sweeping statement that all White people are racist just because I know a few who are. In the same token, you cannot make a broad generalization that oppression doesn't exist because 1. you are aren't Black and only have second-hand and very limited information to draw from, and 2. White people are also not a monolithic group.

You function independently from one another and have different experiences. Black people are no different - we also have our own experiences so one group cannot speak for ALL of us.
