Very interesting response, and thank you for reading and speaking honestly. I believe your sentiment is held by most white people in America and it's not surprising. The plight of Black people has always been something we have been forced to shoulder, even though we did not create oppression, nor do we perpetuate it against any other ethnic groups.

It often becomes a "what do they want" and a fear of us trying to take something away from white people. I never mentioned that I suggested Black women take away the alpha position in this country from white men, but your life experience and perspective saw that in my words. My main objective is to save the lives of Black people and to keep my family safe. Your views on this would likely be much different and less casual if your children were targets simply for the color of their skin.

I have two adult children who have college degrees, have never broken the law, and are decent, kind, and respectful young adults. That should set them up for success and they should be safe in this world, like other white young adults in the same position, but the fact is that because they were born in brown skin, they have added elements to maintaining their safety, which implores me to do what I can to make a difference.

To remain "generally supportive" of the progress of Black people is to say that because our lives being in danger doesn't affect you directly, it's something that is an after-thought. And that's not surprising either. It's what most white people I've come to know think. They don't have time to worry about Black bodies - they have their own lives to live. That's fine, but if that's the mentality, I should never be asked to support any businesses, join fights for feminism, or to assimilate to white culture, which is force-feed to Black people in America. I've honestly seen more concern for a dog's life here than for living, breathing, Black people. But again, I'm not surprised, just further determined.

I appreciate your honesty, your thoughts and for taking the time to read my article.
