What you deem as "shenanigans" directly affects MY people. Just as you would not like for me to be dismissive of the trials faced by Jews in this society, I do not appreciate your lack of compassion or acknowledgement for the plight of Black people.
DEI is not an auto pilot program. It requires the work and input from concerned people who will ensure that its ideals are upheld. If you feel so strongly about what you believe DEI is NOT doing, it is your responsibility to get involved like the rest of us to ensure that it works for you and your people and whomever else you wish to protect.
Black Americans have a specific set of challenges in this country that are not the same as wrongdoings against the Jewish community. Jews do not have to live amongst the Nazi and attempt to function within a system where Nazi law still reigns supreme. Jews do not have to face images of horror or people in power who would deny the Holocaust or suggest that because it is not a recent event that it no long has any importance and does not deserve reverence or compassionate reflection for descendants of the horrific atrocities their ancestors endured.
Black Americans must endure that and more on a daily basis. From monuments and schools named after documented owners of enslaved humans, to the white supremacy that governs this country and continuously disenfranchises the descendants of enslaved humans in THIS country, on THIS soil, to the blatant exclusion of laws that create guaranteed equity for ALL Americans, my reference to DEI addresses those issues.
Channel your energy and disgust with your feelings of how you feel DEI is not serving the Jewish community into action that ensures that it does. I am the wrong person to bring your grievances to because my article was specific to Black Americans.
