When I got to "mid" I literally laughed out loud...lol. True to form, and thank you so much for reading and for your extremely substantive response. I could not agree MORE with the fact that our police organizations would need to give up their guns to stop the killing. They can't kill us all with a knee on the neck, but I fear they may even return to lynching. We live in such a pro-2nd amendment country that the idea of even civilians giving up guns is unheard of so I can imagine the challenge of trying to remove them from the police.

I believe our deaths would plummet if that were the case but honestly, because of the insidious nature of the racism that this country was built on, it's not in the majority population's interest to stop the killing of Black people. There is a wicked level of apathy that exists here that is palpable every single time I go anywhere. The same White men who call me pretty and ask me out are the same who if they saw my son would call him a nigger. It is beyond unlivable here and I've often considered leaving the country. I still may, depending on if I can convince my family to do the same. We were brought here and have never been wanted. And we didn't ask to come in the first place.

Thank you so much again for reading and now I'm heading over to your page as I see you've got some new work out too!
